Police have arrested two teenagers from City High School, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), following a violent attack in which a classmate sustained serious injuries. Authorities confirmed that four class 11 students have been booked under “attempt to murder” charges after an incident at the Puraani Chungi crossing on Sunday evening.
Police reports state that the victim, Prashant Kumar, was struck on the back of his head with a blunt object after a heated argument stemming from a previous dispute. The confrontation escalated as a group of classmates met to discuss the issue, resulting in Kumar’s hospitalization at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital, AMU. Thankfully, he was discharged after receiving emergency medical care.

AMU Proctor Mohammad Waseem Ali emphasized that the altercation was over a minor disagreement and dismissed any speculation of communal motives as baseless. He assured that the matter was being treated with utmost seriousness by school authorities, and strict action would be taken against all students involved.
Circle Officer Sarvan Singh confirmed that charges have been filed against the four students under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and investigations are ongoing into all possible aspects of the case.
