On Tuesday night, Two prisoners managed to escape under mysterious circumstances from Morigaon District Jail. The prisoners identified as Jiarul Islam and Subrata Sarkar, are now on the run, raising serious questions about lapses in prison security and management.
This is not the first such incident at the facility. Around ten months ago, five prisoners escaped by breaking through the jail wall, and two of them remain untraced even today. The latest jailbreak has once again exposed major vulnerabilities in the prison system.
Sources suggest that the duo may have taken advantage of alleged negligence by jail authorities, though an official inquiry is still underway to determine the exact circumstances of their escape.
Police have launched a statewide manhunt to track down the fugitives, while senior officials have assured strict action against those found responsible for security lapses.
