Train Accident: 19 trains diverted by NFR following Kanchanjunga Express-Goods train collision

Today at around 9.00 am train accident took place when a goods train hit the Kanchanjunga Express from behind. At least 8 people died and around 25 people injured.

The 13174 Kanchanjunga Express train was going from Agartala-Sealdah. Kanchanjunga Express train was departed from Agartala on June 16. 

CM Himanata Biswa Sarma said, there is no information of injuries or dead of any Assam residents. The Railway department has not officially released the information yet.

The National Frontier Railway (NFR) has diverted 19 trains following the accident.

The 19 trains which are diverted for following the Train accident are:

  • 20506 New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express (16.06.24)
  • 12424 New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express (16.06.24)
  • 22301 Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express (17.06.24)

The accident took place on Monday morning at around 9.00 am at Ruidhasa in Darjeeling district of West Bengal which is 10 km from New Jalpaiguri station.

Upon receiving the news of the accident, the DM, SP, doctors, ambulance and disaster management have rushed immediately to the scene.

As a result of the collision, 4 coaches from the back of the Kanchanjungha Express and 5 wagons from the container train derailed, blocking both directions of the railway tracks.

The unaffected portion of the Kanchanjunga Expressed has cleared to continue its journey. Food and water has been provided immediately to the affected train passengers
