On 31 March 2024, a big storm took place in Cachar district of Assam. During a severe storm in Rajghat, Cachar, a large tree fell on a home while the people were sleeping. Shakhi Begum Laskar, a woman, tragically lost her life in the incident while she was with her four-month-old child. However, miraculously, her baby emerged from the ordeal unharmed.
For a few Assam weather event marked by heavy rainfall and hailstorm. On a Sunday night, a heavy storm hit the Cachar district of Assam. It rained heavily and there were hailstorms. This caused a lot of damage everywhere.
Cachar tragic Storms took a woman life
A report come out that in heavy storm that held on 31 March 2024, took one people life. According to report, a woman name Shakhi Begumwas sleeping at home with her 4 month old child and five other family members when the storm hit. A nearby tree of their house, felled by the storm, which tragically claimed the life of the 35-year-old woman. But thankfully, her baby which was sleeping near her and the rest of her family were saved by some people who helped them out of the broken house.
At the same time, in the nearby Hailakandi district of Barak Valley, the storm caused similar problems. Hailstorms hit many places, damaging houses and cars very badly. The big hailstones caused a lot of trouble in Hailakandi, Karimganj, and Cachar districts. Many people were stuck because of all the damage.
In the aftermath of the devastating storm, authorities are assessing the scale of the damage and extending assistance to affected communities.
