Tinsukia Petrol Pump Robbery: One suspect Arrested

On January 27 night, a robbery took place in a Petrol Pump in Pangaree Charali, Tinsukia, where four-five armed miscreants looted about Rs 1.6 lakh cash.

According to police, one of the gang Pallav Chetiya of Makum Barekuri area arrested within five hours. Acting swiftly, a police team led by SDPO Margherita set up road blocks and which result to arrest Pallav Chetiya.

SP Tinsukia said, ‘Immediately after the incident, naka was setup in various locations with the proactive initiative of SDPO Margherita. Later, the culprit was arrested along with a red vehicle beside recovering the weapons used in committing the crime’.

A staff of Petrol pump stated that group of five assailants in a black venue SUV without a number plate entered the petrol pump. The assailants, armed with pistols, stormed the premises and forcibly stole nearly a lakh in cash.

The operation also resulted in the recovery of the getaway vehicle, the weapon used in the crime (a dao), and Rs 14,000 in cash.

During questioning, the arrested suspect disclosed the identities of the other culprits. Authorities have started a full search operation to catch the remaining suspects and ensure they face justice.

Further investigation is going on.
