Tamil Nadu MP A Ganeshamurthy died on 28 March Thursday at 5.05 am due to cardiac arrest at the age of 76 years. He was a member of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s (MDMK) party of Tamil Nadu. His body was sent to the government hospital at Perundurai in Erode for postmortem.
A few days ago on March 24 he attempt suicide by consuming pesticide and immediately rushed to the hospital in Erode in a critical condition. After an initial checkup, he was admitted to the ICU and was put on a ventilator. Later he was shifted to the private hospital in nearby Coimbatore. He took the extreme for not getting the ticket to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha Election by the MDMK party.

Several politicians, including State Minister for Urban Development and Housing S. Muthusamy, BJP MLA from Modakurichi Dr. C. Saraswathy, and AIADMK leader K. V. Ramalingam, hurried to the hospital to inquire about Ganeshamurthi’s health.

Ganeshamurthi is one of the senior leader of MDMK party. He is a three-time MP, held significant positions within the MDMK ranks. Ganeshamurthi contested election in 2019 in the general election from the Erode parliamentary constituency on DMK’s rising sun symbol and won. He was reportedly distressed over the party’s decision not to nominate him to contest from the Erode seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The DMK has put forth its candidate in Erode and has opted to allocate the Tiruchy seat to the MDMK. Durai Vaiko, the son of MDMK general secretary Vaiko, has designated as the party’s candidate from Tiruchy.
On 24 March he attempted suicide by consuming pesticides at his residence in Erode town and rushed to the hospital for treatment. On 28 Mrach at around 5.05 the doctor declared that he is died.
After the postmortem his body will handed to his family. The party leader of MDMK will visit his residence today at afternoon.
Vaiko who rushed to the hospital after knowing about the incident. He also denied about Ganeshamurthi upset regarding the ticket distribution. Talking to the reporter he said, “”He was happy with the seat (party ticket) issue. He met me twice. We never expected him to make such a decision. He was in a good mood. I cannot believe that he took such a step and passed away. We pay our deep homage.”
