On Sunday another tainted officer has suspended under APSC cash-for-job Scam. The Tainted officer has identified as Mridul Hazarika who was employed in the Directorate of Employment and Technical Training.
He was belong to the 2013 batch of APSC exam. In April 2024, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has conducted a raid in the office of APSC and collected a document related to CCE (Mains) 2013-2014. After collecting the documents they suspends Mridul Hazarika and summons him.
The Enforcement Development (ED) also filed its second charge-sheet against Samedur Rahman, the then member of APSC during the time chairperson Rakesh Paul. The first charge-sheet filed against Rakesh Paul.
Earlier, a total of 21 officer suspended under APSC cash-job-for scam. This suspended officer include 11 Assam police service (APS) and four from Assam Civil Service (ACS).
This officer appointment were made through the manipulation of their originally scored marks in the final tabulation sheet which leads to fraudulent results. The SIT has named 34 officers as suspects in its final report.
The APSC Scam came into fore in 2016 when a doctor named Angshumita Gogoi informed police in Dibrugarh about an incident. An assistant engineer offered her a job under APSC in exchange for Rs. 10 Lakh. The Police caught red-handed the Assistant engineer, accepting the bribe and arrested.
After then the police arrested APSC chairperson and prime accused Rakesh Kumar Paul along with other based on assistant engineerโs confession. This accused spent six years in jail, in the month of March 2023 he get bail.
Assam’s Director General of Police (DGP), GP Singh, affirmed on Friday that nobody found with prosecutable evidence will spare.
