The Department of Housing and Urban Affairs (Technical Cell) has officially launched the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) in Silchar, with an investment of โน3.5 crore.
On February 6, laid foundation stone of this project in the presence of MLA, DC and notable dignitaries. This initiative system aims to enhance traffic flow, reduce traffic Jam and integrate advanced CCTV surveillance for improved road safety and efficient commuting.

Key Features of ITMS in Silchar:
Technology-Driven System: Equipped with IT-based system with traffic signals, cameras and detectors.
Key junctions: Electronic traffic signals and surveillance cameras will install at 13 key points of Silchar city. Which includes major junctions like Vivekananda Sadarghat, SMCH, Capital Point and others.
Enhanced Regulation: Two major junctions will feature Red Light Violation Detection (RLVD) and e-Challan systems to ensure stricter traffic rule enforcement.
On February 6, evening, the foundation stone for this project laid by Honโble MLA of Silchar LAC, Shri Dipayan Chakraborty Ji. In this even distinguished guests was present including Superintendent of Police, Cachar, Shri Numal Mahatta (APS), District Commissioner, Cachar, Shri Mridul Yadav (IAS), Mandal President Shri Hirak Choudhury, District Vice President Shri Amitava Roy, along with other notable dignitaries.
This modern traffic management system is expected to play a pivotal role in reducing traffic congestion. And also it will ensure safer roads and improving commuting convenience for the public.
