Earlier, today Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma among five escorted under tight security to the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Guwahati in the Zubeen Garg death case after the completion of their CID custody. The other three are Sandeepan Garg, and two personal security officers, Nandeshwar Bora and Paresh Baishya.

They have been remanded to judicial custody, as their CID remand period ended. Senior advocate Mintu Saikia informed the media that none of the accused have sought bail so far.

“During their judicial custody, the magistrate will monitor their health conditions. As a lawyer, I must remain impartial and abide by the law. Although I felt anger when I first saw them today, I had to control my emotions. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has not yet sought custody in connection with their alleged financial irregularities,” Saikia stated.

Sources indicated that Mahanta and Sharma may be transferred to Baksa District Jail in Mushalpur, though they will be temporarily kept at Guwahati Central Jail for now.

Meanwhile, all five accused are scheduled to undergo a medical examination at Pan Bazar Police Station before being sent to jail.

The CID’s investigation into Zubeen Garg’s death continues, with the court expected to take further action in the coming days as new evidence and testimonies emerge.
