Rs 2 Lakh Fake Currency recovered in Cachar, Auto driver arrested

Cachar Police recovered Rs 2 Lakh amount of fake Currency, one auto drive arrested. Based on tip-off, Dholai police on March 7 at around 8 pm intercepted a auto-rickshaw.

From it police managed to recovered 400 fake Note of Rs 500 from the hidden chamber, behind back seat. Auto-Rickshaw driver, identified as Nizam Uddin Lashkar age 30, residents of Rajghat Part-I in South Dholai, Cachar.

The auto-rickshaw bearing number AS 10C 7282 has been seized and a case has been registered.

During the initial questioning, Laskar, the auto driver denied any knowledge of the Fake Note, claiming he had merely picked up passengers from Bhagabazar without any awareness of the stash’s origin.

However, authorities grew suspicious after discovering multiple notes with identical serial numbers, which suggested a case of organized Fake Currency.

Laskar was presented before the court on Saturday. Further investigation is going on.
