A prisoner dies by suicide inside the Silchar central jail. His dead body discovered on March 28 at his cell hanging.
The prisoner, Pintu Rajput has arrested 10 days earlier on charges of cattle theft and was sent to Silchar Central Jail from Silchar National Highway Parol Post. Pintu Rajput was a residents of Kachanpur, Silchar.
The incident has led to question and concerns about the incident.
Meanwhile, the jail officials immediately called the senior officers. Upon receiving about the incident, the Silchar Sadar Police arrived at the scene and recovered the dead body and sent it to Silchar Medical College and hospital for postmortem.
In Early morning, the prisoner found hanging himself inside the cells with a piece of cloth.
The reason behind the suicide remains unclear and police is currently investigating the case. The incident has created tension in the jail and also Rajput’s family demanding probe on it.
