Police Encounter in Cachar: A rape accused who tried to flee was encountered by Cachar Police on March 19, night. The incident took place in the Palorbond area of Lakhipur, Cachar, Assam. The accused first attacked the on-duty police and wanted to flee from custody by taking advantage of the dark night, but failed. When the accused tried to flee, the police shot in the leg to catch him.
According to the police, the accused is identified as Jamir Uddin, a resident of Srikona, Allombak, Cachar, Assam. This accused was arrested on Saturday, March 16, 2024, in an attempted rape case and kidnapping. On Tuesday night, police took the accused to the crime scene to collect evidence of the alleged weapon that was used to threaten the victim.
Upon arriving at the scene, Jamir Uddin tried to escape from custody by attacking a police officer, which resulted in the encounter from which he was injured. The accused is now undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH).

On March 16, 2024, in the morning, a married woman was kidnapped from the National High Way-37 Shivpur area of Lakhipur. Some kidnappers forcefully took the woman in a vehicle and went from the scene. A few hours later, they left the woman in front of the Srikona overbridge and fled away.
When a case was registered at the police station about the incident within 24 hours, the police arrested the four kidnappers and a woman. Among the kidnappers, the mastermind or main accused is Jamir Uddin.

Cachar Police Super Numal Mahatta said that “on March 16, an incident took place in the Shivpur area of Lakhipur. In the morning, two women are walking on the road. At around 5:30 a.m., four kidnappers arrived at the place where one woman was being kidnapped. When we found the report of the incident, I immediately started investigating the case, and within 24 hours, we arrested four men and a woman who also involved in kidnapping from different parts of the district. We also take the statement of the victim woman.”
He also said, “The statement says that the woman was kidnapped, and they tried to rape her as well. The prime accused in the case is Jamir Uddin, who kidnapped the victim. The accused said that during the time of the kidnapping, he used a weapon. So, a team of police took the accused and went for the recovery of the weapon in the Palorbond area. By taking advantage of the dark, he attacked the on-duty police officer named Santosh Pegu in the face and wanted to flee away. While a team present was there to take control of the accused police officer. When he tried to flee the Police was shot in the legs and injured. At present, he is undergoing treatment at SMCH. The constable who was injured in the attack is also undergoing treatment.”
