PM Modi to Launch PM Vishwakarma Yojana on September 17

On the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, which falls on September 17. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. This scheme was announced in the Union Budget 2023-24 by the Central Government.

Significant Budget Allocation

The PM Vishwakarma Yojana has been allocated an impressive budget, spanning from the financial year 2023-24 to 2027-28, with a total outlay of โ‚น13,000 crore. The aim of this scheme is to enhance the skills of skilled workers and artisans. It will benefit 18 different categories of workers hailing from backward castes. These categories include carpenters, ironsmiths, goldsmith workers, artisans, sculptors, cobblers, masons, washermen, tailors and more.

Incentives for Beneficiaries

Under this scheme, beneficiaries will receive a toolkit incentive of โ‚น15,000 as per the Ministry of Finance. Additionally, beneficiaries will be provided with foundational skill training at โ‚น500 per day stipend.

Benefits of PM Vishwakarma Yojana

1. Affordable Loans: In the first phase, beneficiaries can avail of loans up to Rs. 1,00,000 at a minimal interest rate of 5%. In the second phase, this loan limit is extended to Rs. 2,00,000, still at a favorable 5% interest rate.
2. Skill Enhancement: The scheme provides comprehensive skill training to participants, helping them refine their craft and improve their employability.
3. Financial Support During Training: During the training period, beneficiaries are entitled to a stipend of Rs. 500 per day, easing their financial burden as they enhance their skills.
4. Advance Toolkit: A financial boost of Rs. 15,000 is provided to purchase an advanced toolkit, ensuring artisans have the necessary equipment to excel in their respective trades.
5. Official Recognition: Beneficiaries are granted the prestigious PM Vishwakarma Certificate and Identity Card, acknowledging their expertise and participation in the scheme.
6. Flexible Loan Tenure: The first-phase loan comes with an 18-month tenure, while the second-phase loan offers an extended tenure of 30 months, ensuring manageable repayment options.
7. Digital Transaction Incentive: To promote digital transactions, beneficiaries receive an incentive of Rs. 1 for each digital transaction, further encouraging cashless transactions and financial inclusion.
