The PM Modi Assam visit projects announcement marks one of the biggest development pushes for the state in recent years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a two-day tour of Assam on March 13 to inaugurate, launch and lay the foundation stone for development initiatives worth nearly ₹48,000 crore across key cities including Kokrajhar, Guwahati and Silchar.

Officials say this project aims to strengthen infrastructure, boost connectivity and accelerate economic growth across the state and the wider Northeast region. The initiatives cover sectors such as roads, railways, energy, gas pipelines, agriculture, tourism and industry, signalling a major investment push for development.

The Prime Minister started the tour in Kokrajhar, where he launched and laid the foundation for projects worth more than ₹4,570 crore. Later, he travelled to Guwahati to inaugurate development works worth nearly ₹19,680 crore, before heading to Silchar on March 14 to unveil projects valued at around ₹23,550 crore.

Government officials believe the PM Modi Assam visit projects will improve transport links, generate employment opportunities and enhance infrastructure across the region.
