Cachar district’s Food Safety Department, along with Cachar Police, sealed the Parijat Hotel and Restaurant near Lathigram on Silchar–Lumding Road (Mahasadak) on Monday, August 11, after receiving multiple complaints of food safety violations.
Authorities revealed that the hotel, which also operates a spa, had been under investigation for various issues. Recently, police arrested a man and a woman from the premises in connection with alleged illicit activities.
Udharbond Circle Officer Rituraj Bordoloi stated that officials found several violations during inspection, including failure to maintain a guest check-in register and not verifying guest ID cards. The check-in register was seized for investigation.
During the raid, expired food items, rotten vegetables, and unhygienic kitchen conditions were discovered. Customers had also complained about stale food and insects in meals.
The property, which includes a restaurant, private rooms, cabins, and a spa, has faced repeated allegations of illegal activities. Authorities have assured that a detailed investigation will be carried out before deciding on the hotel’s future operations.
