Manipur Violence: CBI Director Leads Specialized Team in Investigation of Missing Youths’ Killings
Manipur Violence: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has announced a significant development in the investigation of the tragic killings of two missing youths who were missing from July 6. He revealed that the CBI Director, accompanied by a specialized team, will lead the investigation into this case.
Protests and Social Media Outcry on Manipur violence
The announcement comes in the wake of violent protests that erupted. The protest that erupted in the state following the circulation of disturbing photos of the bodies of the two missing youths on social media. In response to the unrest, mobile services were temporarily banned once again in the region. During the protests in Imphal Valley on Tuesday, police action resulted in the injury of at least 45 students. Among the injured students there was many girls. Chief Minister N Biren Singh emphasized his close coordination with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Assuring the people of Manipur that both the state and central governments are working diligently to identify and apprehend those responsible for the tragic incident.
He said via X, ” In light of the distressing news that emerged yesterday regarding the tragic demise of the missing students, I want to assure the people of the State that both the state and central government are closely working together to nab the perpetrators. To further expedite this crucial investigation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director, along with a specialized team, will be arriving in Imphal tomorrow morning in a special flight. Their presence underscores the commitment of our authorities to swiftly resolve this matter. I have been constantly in touch with Honโble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice.”

School Closures and Internet ban
In light of the situation, the Directorate of Education Schools in Manipur has declared a three-day holiday for all schools. This includes government, state government-aided, and private unaided schools, which will be temporarily closed on September 27 and 29. All the Parents and students of Manipur are advised to contact their respective schools and administrative authorities for further details. To prevent the spread of misinformation and rumors. The state government of Manipur has banned on mobile internet services until October 1.
Ongoing Unrest
It is important to note that the northeastern state of Manipur has been experiencing ongoing ethnic clashes since May 3.
