A notification has declared by the Governor of Assam, that Kamrup (Metro) district administration has declared Tuesday, October 21, 2025, as a local holiday in observance of Diwali.

According to the directive, all the state government offices and educational institutions in the district will remain closed under the provisions of the National Industrial (NI) Act. The closure also applies to financial institutions, as per Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, which permits banks and related establishments to remain closed on officially recognized holidays in line with Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines.
