Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday unveil the digital portal from where the indigenous people of ‘sensitives area’ can apply for Arms license.
CM stated that the move is aimed at empowering responsible citizens to support the government in maintaining peace and upholding law and order. He added that licenses will be granted only after thorough scrutiny and a strict multi-layered verification process.
He stated that only Arms license will issue to the people by Government based on guidelines, but the arms will not supply. The license is granted by the District Magistrate and is subject to renewal and compliance with all legal provisions.
How to Apply For the Arms License in Assam
To Apply Online for the Arms License people need to Go through the Sewa Setu Portal
Then Click on Service and search for Application for an Arms License in Form III (General)
Click for Apply Now and then fill to Apply

Who are eligible to apply for Arms License in Assam
Only indigenous citizens living in remote and sensitive areas will get licenses
Applicants with criminal records will not get a license
Only mentally healthy citizens will issued licenses. A valid medical fitness certificate must be provided.
Applicants must have lived in Assam for 3 generations to obtain the license
If eligible, Christians and Muslims will all get licenses
Applicants will issue a firearms license for five years
Applicants should be at least 21 years of age
The government will issue licenses to applicants only after undergoing weapons training
(Training certificate in Form S-1 under rule 10(1) of the Arms Rules, 2016: Must have a valid Training certificate in Form S-1 under rule 10(1) of the Arms Rules, 2016.
Citizens of Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Shillong and Jorhat will not get licences.

- Medical certificates about mental health and physical fitness in Form S-3
