Hidden Camera found in Girl’s hostel Washroom at SR Gudlavalleru Engineering College in Andhra Pradesh; Video circulated by student; Protest erupted
A disturbing incident took place in Andhra Pradesh, where a hidden camera found in the washroom of girl’s hostel at engineering college. The student has staged protest from Thursday (August 29) night after they discovered the hidden camera in demand of justice.
This incident has shocked the security of woman. This camera has secretly recorded videos of girls student and later this videos were sold in boys hostel.
The incident has took place at SR Gudlavalleru Engineering College in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.
On August 29, a group of female student has concealed the camera in their washroom in the evening time. This discovery of the camera led chaotic scene as the female student organized protest which began from 7 pm and continue till morning. They expressed their outrage through chant “We want Justice” and used torchlights on their mobile phones.
The protest began after allegations surfaced that a final-year B.Tech student was selling videos recorded by hidden cameras, with help from another student.
Police has been called after protest erupted in the college. Later police arrested Vijay, a final-year B.Tech student in connection of it. Police also seized his laptop. Further investigation also going on to find other student who involved in this incident.
Junior and Senior student also attempted to attack the accused, police managed them and questioned Vijay.
According to some reports, over 300 video and photos from women’s hostel washroom were leaked, and even some student also purchased videos from Vijay.
This incident has discomforted the girl’s student from using washroom in the college. Many students has shaken leak of the sensitive footage.
Political leaders react on SR Gudlavalleru Engineering College incident in Andhra Pradesh
As the incident trigged protest, the Telegu Desam Party said Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has ordered an inquiry into the case.
The party’s General Secretary and the Chief Minister’s son, Nara Lokesh, in an X post said, “I asked the authorities for details about the protest of female students at Gudlavalleru Engineering College of Krishna District. I have ordered an inquiry into the allegations of hidden cameras. Strict action will be taken against the culprits and those responsible if it is found that they have committed a mistake in the investigation. Managements should take early steps without ragging and harassment in colleges.”
