Two Days after the Violence which took place on Thursday in the area of Banbhoolpura area of Haldwani, Uttarakhand on Saturday the police registered case against 19 people with more 5000 unidentified people. Today, SSP Nainital Prahalad Narayan Meena said this via media.
Yesterday on Friday due to the violence Government suspend internet from the area, even today it remain shut. Today the curfew has lifted from outer areas of Haldwani towns but curfew remains in the violence area in Banbhoolpura. Force are present in the area to make it calm. The colleges and schools of the area will remain closed.
The Nainital SSP said that the situation is under control, the CAPF and the local police had deployed in the affected area.
The police are collecting footage of the protesters. The entire area has divided into 5 super zones, and 7 magistrates have deployed accordingly. Forces and officers from all police stations in the Kumaon zone stationed in Haldwani. The vicinity around the police station has thoroughly cleaned, and operations have resumed at the Vanbhulpura police station. For security reasons, media personnel are being kept at a distance of 200 meters from the police station.
Reason Behind the Haldwani Violence:
A team of Government officials on Thursday 8 February, carried out the demolition on the illegally constructed Madrasa and Mosque in the area of Banbhoolpura Haldwani, Uttarakhand with a JCB machine as per court order. In the reaction against it a few residents took the street to protest. They clashed with the police during the protest broke barricades and hurled stone at the police officials. They also set fire to the police cars, and even blazed Banbhoolpura Police Station by late evening. By this the violence erupt.

The Police of the Haldwani said that on Thursday night, during an anti-encroachment drive in Haldwani, six rioters were killed according to the Haldwani Police.

Yesterday, Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Radha Raturi and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the areas affected by violence to assess the situation in Banbhoolpura, Haldwani.
Uttarakhand CM condemned the violence in Haldwani, stating that certain individuals attempted to disrupt the harmony in ‘Dev Bhoomi’ and resorted to vigilantism.
