Guwahati Cyber Police arrested two youth in involved of selling obscene images on Telegram messenger. Both youth arrested under Sections 77/79/356(2) of the BNS, 2023, read with Section 66E/67 of the IT Act, 2000.
The accused youths identified as Gautam Das (27), a resident of Jatia, Kahilipara near ICICI Bank, and Manshab Biswas (19), residing at House No. 5, Bylane No. 1, Mula Gabharu Path, under Dispur Police Station in Guwahati, Assam.
Both youths arrested from Hatigaon at late night in connection with Cyber PS Case No. 06/25.
According to police sources, the duo youths arrested in connection in selling absence photographs of a young woman on Telegram Messenger. Gautam Das, who was reportedly the victim’s former boyfriend, allegedly leaked her private photos to a criminal network. The group then used the images for blackmailing, with Manshab Biswas carrying out the blackmailing activities.
The police are continuing their investigation to identify others involved in the case.
