Assam Government officer arrested for accepting Rs 10,000 bribe in Sribhumi (formerly Known Karimganj) on February 12, 2025.

On February 12, a team of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam trapped red handed Lony Barman, Nazir of Officer of the Assistant Commissioner State GST Sribhumi immediately after he accepted bribe of Rs 10,000.

According to directorate of vigilance, he has been arrested after a complaint filed in the office. He demanded the bribe from the complainant for releasing his vehicle loaded with goods.

Acting on complaint, the team of Anti-corruption set a trapped and caught him red-handed while accepting demanded bribe.

After his arrest, Barman was interrogated for an extended period by the investigation team. Sources revealed that he was previously assigned to Churaibari on the Assam-Tripura border, where he faced multiple corruption allegations.

The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-corruption has shared details on arrested on their X handle. They stated, “Today @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red handed Lony Barman, Nazir of O/O the Asstt Commissioner State GST Sribhumi, immediately after he accepted Rs.10000/-as bribe from the complainant for releasing his vehicle loaded with goods.”
