A team from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption in Assam successfully carried out an operation on 19 April 2024 where they arrested a government employee in connection of Bribery Case.
The arrested government employee identified as Mantu Kalita, a Gram Rozgar Sahayak (GRS).
Kalita was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe from a complainant within the premises of the Block Development Officer in Kalaigaon, Udalguri District, Assam.
The alleged bribe was reportedly demanded by Kalita to expedite the process of allotting a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
The reports of the arrested was announced by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption through their official website. They stated, โToday @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red handed Mantu Kalita, GRS, after he accepted demanded bribe from the complainant in the O/O Block Development Officer, Kalaigaon, Dist- Udalguri, for allotment of PMAY house.โ
This prompt action taken by the vigilance team underscores their dedication to combating corruption and upholding transparency in government schemes.
Earlier, On 12 April a government official got trapped red handed for accepting demanded bribe in Assam. The trapped officer is a Senior Assistant officer of the Superintendent of Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Bokajan of Karbi Anglong District,ย Assam.
The government official identified as Gurupad Das, Sr. Asstt. of O/O the Supdt. of Food& Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Bokajan, Dist- Karbi Anglong, Assam. He got arrested when after he accept the demanded bribe from the complainant in the office, for renewal of licence.
