Free Treatment For Road Accident Victims: In Assam Road Accident took place almost every day. We all aware that how road accident destroys a person and a family life. On Thursday, the Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced of Scheme to provide Free Treatment to Road Accident Victims.

The Ministry has formulated the scheme and initiated implementation on pilot basis in Chandigarh and Assam to provide cashless treatment to victims of road accidents caused by use of motor vehicle, on any category of road, in collaboration with National Health Authority (NHA).

Under this scheme the eligible victims administered Health Benefit Packages relating to trauma and polytrauma care at empanelled hospitals under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri-Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), up to a maximum of Rs. 1.5 lakh for a maximum period of 7 days from date of accident.

The pilot program for cashless treatment of road accident victims, launched in Chandigarh and Assam, provides support for accidents caused by motor vehicles regardless of where they occur. This program aligns with the requirements of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

The National Health Authority (NHA), part of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, is responsible for running the program. They work with local police, approved hospitals, State Health Agencies, the National Informatics Centre, and the General Insurance Council to implement it.

Government has taken different steps in this direction by realizing the matter with full responsibility and importance, which resulted in road accident rate reduced to 45%.

Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari took his social media and announced about the scheme.
