Police on Wednesday arrested an ex- village Jhansi Village head of Mahewa, Sanjay Patel (41), and his nephew Sandeep Patel (25), for murder a woman brutally whose body was hacked into pieces and thrown at different locations.
The victim, 35-year-old Rachna Yadav, had allegedly been dating Sanjay Patel for the last two years. Police said she had been insisting that he marry her and had also cheated him out of huge amounts of money. For fear of being exposed, Patel plotted with his nephew and aide Pradeep alias Deepak Ahirwar to kill her.
Murder Plot and Disposal of Body Parts
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) BBGTS Murthy, the accused strangulated Yadav within a car on the intervening night of August 9 and 10. They chopped her body with an axe after killing her and spread the pieces in various spots.
The torso and arms were disposed of in a well in Kishorpura village. The head and legs were discarded in the Raivan river adjacent to the village.
Police Investigation
On 13 August, police retrieved body parts of an unknown woman from the well at Kishorpura under Todi-Fatehpur police station. Having the head and legs amputated, several teams were constituted to probe.
It soon came to light that Rachna Yadav was missing for days. Further investigations disclosed her relationship with Sanjay Patel, resulting in his arrest and nephew Sandeep near Lakheri dam.
Both were arrested and taken to jail, and police have offered a ₹25,000 reward for information that will lead to the arrest of absconding accused Pradeep Ahirwar.
