Fisher man rescue a woman from Drowning in Barak River, Cachar

A woman who swept away from Siddheshwar Temple in Barak River has been rescue from drowning by fisher man in Katigorah, Cachar.

The incident took place today morning. According to reports the woman identified as Oli Rani Dey (50) has performing puja at Siddeshwar Temple in Badarpur Ghat, Cachar on July 7, morning.

After completing her prayers, she proceeds to the temples ghat for performing Ganga Puja. During the Ganga Puja a strong current of the Barak river carried away her. Nearly 5 Kilometer downstream fisherman in Katigorah’s Rajatilla village noticed a hand waving in the river.

They swiftly used a fishing net to rescue the woman. The woman is currently being treated at a nearby hospital. The fisher man who rescued the woman identified as Rupak Das.

The woman Oli Rani Das is a resident of Das Colony, Silchar and wife of Gourango Chandra Dey. She found in a state trauma that she even did not manage to speak clearly during statement after she came into sense in the hospital.

The Fisher man said, “While we were fishing in the river, we noticed someone’s hands splashing in the water not far from us. I quickly got into my boat and pulled her out. She had swallowed a lot of water, so we had to press on her stomach to help get some out. She started to wake up a bit but couldn’t talk clearly. With the help of others nearby, we hurried her to the closest hospital.”
