A tragic incident that took place on Monday in Tamil Nadu’s Ariyalur district. An explosion happened at a licensed firecracker factory that results in the loss of at least nine lives and left several others injured.
The Yaazh FireWorks factory, situated in Thirumanur, Ariyalur district, is a licensed firecracker manufacturing unit owned by an individual. The factory had been operating under a valid license since 2014. And the license had recently been renewed, extending its validity until 2024.
The Tragic Event of Explosion at Firecracker Factory
The devastating explosion took place at around 10 am, on 10 October. In that time there was at around 23 workers inside the factory. The explosion was of such magnitude that it claimed the lives of nine individuals and left several others with varying degrees of injuries.
Investigation and Preliminary Findings
Accoring to police, initially the factory has hired some untraind worker to the factory. The exploision has been took place when they were mixing the chemical. A police investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the explosion. Shockingly, three of the deceased were new employees who had just started working at the factory on the day of the incident.
Legal Action Taken against Explosion at Firecracker Factory
In connection with the explosion, the factory owner identified as Rajendran and his son-in-law, who was responsible for overseeing factory operations, have been booked under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Explosive Substances Act. Both individuals have been arrested and are currently in custody. The specific sections of the IPC and the Explosive Substances Act under which they have been charged are yet to be disclosed.
Victims and Medical Attention
The explosion resulted nine lives, which were recovered from the factory premises. And then subsequently sent to the Ariyalur Government College Hospital. Those who sustained injuries in the incident are currently receiving medical treatment at the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital. The exact number and condition of the injured individuals have not been officially disclosed at this time.
Government Response
Chief Minister M K Stalin has expressed his condolences to the families affected by this tragedy. As a measure of support, he has announced financial compensation as follows: Rs.3 lakh for each family of the deceased victims. Rs.1 lakh for each individual who sustained severe injuries. Rs.50,000 for those with minor injuries.
