A former railway employee was found dead in flood water in Badarpur, Karimganj. This is the third term of flooding in the Karimganj District. The Khushiyara River is flowing above the danger level in Karimganj.

According to information, a former rail employee drowned in flood water, and his dead body was found floating near his house in the Deparpar area of Badarpur Rail Colony. The former rail employee identified as Gopal Chandra Saha is over 60 years old.

Yesterday, Gopal Chandra Saha was found missing. After a lot of searches, his dead body was finally found floating near his house. The locals immediately called Badarpur police about the incident. The Badarpur Police, Circle Officer, and officials rushed to the scene after they got information. They recovered the dead body and sent it for a post-mortem at Karimganj Civil Hospital.

The tragedy left the locals shocked. A family member said, “I feel so bad about the incident. Every day in the evening, he goes to the market to spend time. Yesterday, it was around 10–10:30 pm, and he didn’t return home. When we call, the phone shows a switch off. So, we went out for a search. We have searched everywhere and also informed the police. The police had patrolled but found no one. Later, at approximately 12:31 a.m., when we were returning home, we saw the shoe floating in the water. Then my brother guessed and went down into the water, where the dead body touched his feet. When he pulled up the body, he saw that it was Gopal Chandra Saha.”

A total of 31028 people is till now affected by the flood. The Karimganj DC yesterday announced that the private and Government both will closed from 4 July to ensure safety and security to students.
