Encounter in Baramulla Claims Two Terrorists’ Lives
In a significant development, a fierce encounter unfolded in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. It results in the successful neutralization of two terrorists. This operation, which began on Saturday morning, is still in progress taking place near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri.
Kashmir Police Zone Alerts Public to Encounter in Baramulla
The Kashmir Police Zone promptly informed the public via social media. By stating, “Encounter has started between terrorists and Army & Baramulla Police in forward area of Uri, Hathlanga in Baramulla district.”
Subsequently, law enforcement authorities confirmed the elimination of two terrorists within the ongoing operation, with further information expected to follow.
LeT Terror Module Uncovered in Baramulla
This recent operation follows closely on the heels of a notable development in the Baramulla district where a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror module was unearthed.
Arrest of Militant Associates and Seizure of Arms
Two militant associates, namely Zaid Hassan Malla, a resident of Mir Sahib Baramulla, and Mohammad Arif Channa, from Stadium Colony Baramulla, were apprehended. Moreover, a significant cache of arms and ammunition was confiscated. A police spokesperson disclosed that these individuals were actively involved in cross-border smuggling of arms and ammunition at the behest of Pakistan-based terror handlers. Their mission was to further distribute these arms to LeT terrorists, facilitating acts of terror.
Ongoing Operation in Anantnag District
Simultaneously, another operation is unfolding in the Anantnag district, where terrorists have entrenched themselves in a forested hilly terrain.
Security forces have employed drones to precisely locate the terrorists. This operation, aimed at flushing out the insurgents, has entered its fourth day.
Vijay Kumar Reiterates Credibility of Operation
Vijay Kumar, the Additional Director General of Police (Kashmir), emphasize the operation’s credibility, asserting that it was launched based on specific intelligence. He reassured the public that the two to three trapped terrorists would be neutralized.
Caution Against Speculation
Kumar also cautioned retired police and Army officers against peddling speculative theories in the media, stating, “Retired police/Army officers should avoid ‘ambush hypothesis. It is a specific input-based operation. The operation is in progress, and all 2-3 trapped terrorists will be neutralized.”
Mounting Casualties in the Operation
Regrettably, on Friday, another soldier succumbed to injuries sustained during the operation, bringing the total casualties to four. The army is yet to officially confirm the fourth personnel’s death in the ongoing operation.
Tribute to Fallen Heroes
The fallen heroes include Colonel Manpreet Singh, the commanding officer of 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Aashish Dhonchak from the same battalion and DSP Humayun Muzamil Bhat. These brave individuals lost their lives during this intense and high-stakes operation.
