An elderly man’s dead body, identified as Mujammil Ali Laskar, was recovered on 30 May who had drowned in the Madhura River in Gosaipur, Cachar and swept away on Tuesday.
The cyclonic storms had brought heavy rainfall across the Assam state, which caused a rise in the water level in Barak, Madhura, Jiri, Jatinga, and almost all the rivers in the state. Many rivers have crossed the danger level of the water level. So, the flow of the river poses a high risk near the bank.
On May 28, the man who drowned went to see the water level of the Madhura river near the bank by his house. There he slipped, fell into the river, and was swept away by the turbulent water. A manโs son also attempts to save him but is unable to save his father. The elderly man identified as Mujammil Ali Laskar. The NDRF team also conducted a search operation, but they were also unable to find him.
After three days, on Thursday night, at around 9.00 pm, locals discovered a floating dead body in the water of the Ghutghuti Canal near Durgapur Hiarapar, adjacent to the Barak River, Cachar. The locals informed the Barkhola Police. This floating body identified as Mujammil Ali Laskar’s dead body.
Laskarโs family also arrived at the scene to identify the body. They identify the body and claim the dead body is Mujammil Ali Laskarโs.
This event alerts you to stay away from the bank of the river as the river water is flowing over the danger level. The current of the river is also high. So be safe and listen to the advisories of the heads of the authorities.
