Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has issued warning to India following Indus Treaty Suspension. India has suspend the old Indus Water Treaty after the deadly Pahalgam terrorist attack, where 26 people killed, many of them tourists.

While addressing Public Rally on Friday, Bhutto-Zardari stated, “I want to tell India that the Indus is ours and will remain ours. Either our water will flow through it, or their blood will.”

The statement came after India’s strong diplomatic and economic response to the Pahalgam terror attack.

The Indian government has:

  • Suspended the Indus Waters Treaty,
  • Expelled Pakistani military attaches,
  • Downgraded diplomatic ties with Islamabad,
  • Shut down the Attari land transit post.

India has signed the Indus Water Treaty in 1960

India has signed the Indus Water Treaty on September 19, 1960 by Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Pakistani President Ayub Khan, was brokered by the World Bank after nearly a decade of negotiations. It divided the use of the Indus River system’s waters between the two nations, with India receiving the eastern rivers (Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej) and Pakistan getting the western rivers (Indus, Jhelum, and Chenab).

India has suspended the Indus Waters treaty which marks a historic turning point in Indo-Pak relationships.

What did Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated?

Bhutto said, “He (Modi) says they are heirs to a civilisation thousands of years old, but that civilisation lies in Mohenjo Daro, in Larkana. We are its true custodians, and we will defend it”.

Mr. Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari strongly asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot break the centuries-old bond between the people of Sindh and the Indus River. He accused the Indian government of coveting Pakistan’s waters and called for unity among all four provinces to defend and protect this vital resource.

Bilawal emphasized that neither the people of Pakistan nor the international community would tolerate Modi’s “warmongering” or any attempt to divert the Indus waters away from Pakistan.

“We will send a clear message to the world: any attempt to rob the Sindhu will not be accepted,” he declared.
The PPP chairman urged his supporters to prepare for a firm and determined struggle to defend their river against what he described as Indian aggression.
