An e-rickshaw driver attempt to kidnapped a woman lawyer from the area of Link Road, Silchar, the woman somehow managed to escape.
The incident which took place in a busy street has raised a serious concerned about the woman safety in Silchar.
According to reports, the woman lawyer on 1st April was returning to home alone via Link Road, taking the advantage of the deserted stretch, the e-rickshaw driver allegedly grabbed her hand and forcefully tried to drag her into his e-rickshaw.
However, the woman began to scream and shout for help. Her screams alerted passerby, and prompting the accused to flee from the area.
Later the woman filed a complaint at Silchar Sadar Police Station, Silchar. Following the complaint Silchar Police arrested the accused e-rickshaw driver.
The E-Rickshaw driver identified as Narayan Das (35), a resident of Janiganj locality.
The incident has spark panic among the woman who worked and return home at night. Further investigation is going on.
It also highlights the importance of public vigilance and quick police response in preventing such crimes.
