Cachar Police Crack Down on Rising Cattle Smuggling Ahead of Eid

Cachar district has witnessed a surge in cattle smuggling as Eid approaches. Recently an operation conducted by police under Dholai Police Station at Rampu Punji near the Assam-Mizoram border. From there police rescued nine Burmese cows.

Law enforcement also seized an Alto vehicle used in the smuggling attempt.

According to police sources, the cattle were illegally brought from Myanmar in intended for transportation to Bangladesh.

The operation is a part of broader crackdown on cross-border smuggling. Authorities have ramped up surveillance in border areas to prevent further illegal cattle trade during the festive season.
