Like every year this year also Barak Valley Welfare Development Society (NGO) Celebrated the International Day of Yoga on 21st June, 2024 at the Open Shelter Home premises located at Panchayat Road, Cachar, Silchar, from 10:00 a.m. onwards. This celebration is being organized for the inmates, staffs of Open Shelter Home for Boys, Child Care Institution (CCI) and Shakti Sadan Shelter Home for Girls and Women. The event is supported by the State Child Protection Society (Assam), Department of Women and Child Development, Govt. of Assam, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India, and Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India.

International Day of Yoga

The International Day of Yoga is an opportunity to promote holistic well-being, mindfulness, and physical health through the practice of yoga. Our program will feature yoga sessions led by experienced instructors, demonstrations, and discussions on the benefits of incorporating yoga into daily life. The yoga instructor Mr. Soumyajyoti Bhattacharjee highlighted the significance of yoga, describing it as an ancient india practice beneficial for both physically and mentally well-being over the year. The event featured various yoga exercise and meditation sessions conducted under the supervision of instructor. He further elaborated on this year’s theme, “yoga for self and Society”.

The program was attended by the President of the organization Shri. Gouranga Chanda, Secretary Shri. Krishna Gogoi and Executive Director Shri. Gaurav Chanda,and the other members and officials staff of both the Shelter homes Shri. Siddhartha Roy (Project Cordinator cum Counselor, Open Shelter Home for Boys), Smti. Janavi Sharma (Social Worker, Open Shelter Home for Boys), Shri. Kamaljit Singha (Care Giver, Open Shelter Home for Boys), Smti. Janushree Naiding (Project Superintendent, Shakti Sadan Shelter Home, Cachar), Smti. Sudipta Das Gupta (Multi Purpose Worker, Shakti Sadan Shelter Home, Cachar), Smti. Mousumi Choudhury (Multi Purpose Worker, Shakti Sadan Shelter Home, Cachar), Shri. Titu Sarkar & Smti. Tanushree Biswas among other participate in the session.

The guest attended the program such as from the District Child Protection Society, Cachar PO/IC Smti. Twinkle Das and Minara Begum feels privileged to be a part of this immensely valuable day.
