Cachar Police on December 2, seized a huge amount of Yaba Tablets worth Rs 36 Crore in the area of Salchapra, Silchar. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma laud the effort of Cachar police.
Cachar Police, based on credible intelligence launched a special operation at Salchapra, Silchar, where they intercepted two vehicles heading to a neighbouring state. After searching the vehicles they managed recover 1,20,000 Yaba Tablet worth Rs 36 Crore. The vehicles were carrying potatoes and they recovered this Yaba Tablet from potatoes shake.
Police also arrest one individual in connection of it. The arrested identified as Mohammad Azad Laskar, 20 years old.
Cachar Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta stated, โOur fight against drugs is ongoing. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma determined to free the state from this problem, and we are making every effort to achieve that goal. Acting on reliable information about a smuggling attempt, we carried out an operation early Sunday morning at Salchapra under the Silchar police station. During the operation, we stopped two trucks loaded with potatoes, bearing registration numbers AS 11 EC 2504 and AS 11 EC 4291. These trucks were coming from a neighboring state and were heading towards Tripura.โ
โWe found 12 packets containing 1,20,000 Yaba tablets hidden inside the sacks of potatoes. We have arrested a 20-year-old man named Mohammad Azad Lashkar in connection with the case and are currently questioning him. The smuggling plan involved transporting drugs from one neighboring state to another through our district, and our investigation is ongoing.โ
