Cachar police continue patrolling in Assam-Manipur Border, as violence erupt in the neighbouring state Manipur. As per police, Cachar SP Numal Mahatta, accompanied by Additional SP Subrat Sen and other officials from the district headquarters, conducted a midnight patrol at Jirighat, Cachar, Assam, which shares the border with Manipur.

A tension has escalated in Jiribam district of Manipur, which shares border with Cachar district of Assam. Silchar has in the spotlight, as the bodies of the killed people in the violence of Manipur has brought to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for postmortem examination.

Cachar police has been patrolling 24 hours in Assam-Manipur border to keep the state peaceful safe from violence. In Cachar the Hmar and Meitei communities coexist, in which violence erupted in the Manipur state. Cachar SP Stated that the violence in Manipur must not be affected in the law and order situation in Assam.

Cachar Police Ensure Peace in the Cachar district of Assam

SP of Cachar stated addressing media, โ€œWe sealed the border area of Assam-Manipur, where police presence has increased in the area to prevent any law and order issues. We have deployed Commando forces and police team for patrolling the border areas. By taking the advantage of the situation which broke out in our neighbouring state, no one can enter Assam to prevent the peaceful situation. Our primary situation is to prevent anti-social elements with disruptive agendas from entering the district. 24 hours our patrolling is going on.โ€

He also added that, โ€œOfficially we have not received reports of any relief camp being set up yet. However, we have held meetings with village communities and local organisation, and instructed them to alert us if any migration or settlement residents from neighbouring stated came and tried to disrupt peaceful situation in the state.โ€

He also issued a stern warning by stating, โ€œWe want to make it very clear, if any group or individuals tried to disturb the peaceful situation coexistence any way, we will take strict action.โ€

On November 11, 10 Kuki youth killed in police firing in Jiribam, Manipur. This militantโ€™s dead body transferred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for autopsies.

On November 11, gun fight took place between Kuki militants and security forces, where 10 militants killed. One the same day of the incident six Meitei residents, abducted from refuge camp. Six Meitei residents dead bodies found in Barak River upstream at Jirmukh on November 15 and 16. This dead bodies transferred in the Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post mortem.
