Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of ₹51 crore for the Indian women’s cricket team following their historic World Cup triumph. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, clinching their first-ever World Cup title in front of a jubilant home crowd.
India’s win marked a remarkable turnaround after their heartbreaks in the 2005 and 2017 editions, where they finished runners-up. The 2025 campaign, however, saw the women in blue deliver a dominant all-round performance throughout the tournament, culminating in a memorable victory over South Africa.
The BCCI’s reward of ₹51 crore surpasses the ICC’s prize money of USD 4.48 million (approximately ₹39.78 crore), showcasing the board’s intent to recognise and celebrate the team’s outstanding achievement.

Speaking to ANI, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the decision, stating,
“We are proud of our women’s team for their brilliant performance in winning the World Cup. Without touching anything from the ICC’s prize fund, the BCCI will independently reward the players, selectors, and support staff, led by coach Amol Muzumdar, with ₹51 crore.”
Saikia also extended gratitude to BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who played a key role in increasing the ICC Women’s World Cup prize money by nearly 300% just a month before the tournament.
India’s All-Round Brilliance in the Final
In the title clash, India dominated in all three departments. After being put to bat first, India posted a strong total of 298 runs, powered by Shafali Verma’s 87-run knock. In reply, South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt scored a fighting century, but her efforts went in vain as Deepti Sharma’s five-wicket haul dismantled the chase. Shafali also shone with the ball, taking two wickets, earning her the Player of the Match
