Assam Government has announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for the family of Hailakandi Businessman who killed in Maha Kumbh Mela Stampede.

The Hailakandi business man identified as Niti Ranjan Pal, who is owner of renowned sweet shop “Om Sweets, in Hailakandi.

According to reports, the incident occurred while taking part in Amrit Snan during Mauni Amavasya, where lakh of people take part. Although he was taken to a hospital in Prayagraj and given intensive care, but he did succumbed to his injuries.

The incident occurred in on the sacred banks of the Sangam Ghat in Prayagraj in the early hours of Wednesday.

At least 15 people feared dead in the Maha Kumbh Mela Stampede accident.

The Assam government has expressed its heartfelt condolences and is staying in touch with the family to help bring back Pal’s body, ensuring all necessary support during this tough time.
