A team of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam has launched an operation at Goalpara and arrested a government employee.

On August 21, A team of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam trapped red handed and arrested, government employee Prabin Machahary, UDA of the O/O Asst. Registrar, Co-operative Society, Goalpara while accepting bribe of Rs.10,000.ย 

This is a part of ongoing chief minister’s surveillance and anti-corruption drive. According to reports, Prabin Machahary had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs.50,000 to register of a Meen(fish) Mahal cooperative society in the Lakhipur area.

The registration process had delayed for a year because a bribe wasn’t paid. Based on complaint, which made to chief ministerโ€™s office, the anti-corruption team launched a sting operation was organized.

Prabin Machahary was caught red-handed while accepting Rs.10,000 bribe.

There also have previous allegation of bribery case against Prabin Machahary.

The Anti-Corruption has post in the social media platform about the bribery. They stated, โ€œToday @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red handed Prabin Machahary, UDA of the O/O Asst.Registrar, Co-operative Society , Goalpara after he accepted bribe for Registration of a Meen(fish) Mahalโ€
