Assam Flood affected almost two Lakh people, 2024:
Assam is facing severe flood in many areas after Cyclone Remal passed as heavy rainfall took place. The most affected districts are Cachar, Karimganj, Nogaon, Hojai, and Hailakandi. But Cachar is among the most affected districts. The Barak River has already crossed the danger level.
Around 1,98,856 people affected across the state in nine districts of Assam, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority. They also report that around 386 villages affected by the flood.
The areas near the rivers mostly affected. Silchar, which is situated on the bank of the Barak River, also affected. People who lived near the river had to move away from their house on higher ground. The water has reached their house. Areas like Rongpur, Kalibari Char etc. are very much affected.
Around 1,02,246 people affected by the flood water in Cachar district. Silchar is among the most.
Karimganj Longai and Singla have crossed the danger level, and in several areas, the embankment of the river has damaged. In all this situation, the river has entered villages very quickly, which has caused flooding. In this flood, many houses have partially damaged. There are approximately 36,959 people affected in Karimganj.
Around 22,354 people affected in Nogaon district. In Hojai District, 22,058 people affected, and in Hailakandi, 14,308 people affected.
The Kopili River in Nogaon and Kamrup districts has crossed the danger level.
Damage occurred in Assam due to the flood
Around 3,238.8 hectares of cropland have damaged across the state. Reports said that around 885 houses have partially damaged in the affected areas.
Many roads and other infrastructure have damaged in this flood. Two people reported to have died in two different areas on Thursday, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority. A 70-year-old woman died due to a flash flood in Lala, Hailakandi.
