A joint rescue operation is going by NDRF, Indian Army, Assam Rifles, SDRF and other agency from January 6 to save the workers who trapped in the coal mine at 3 Kilo, Umrangso, Assam.
On January 8, one worker dead body of the nine trapped worker recovered from the Umrangso coal mine, Assam.
The rescue operation is facing challenges as the coal mine fill with water. Water removal operation are under way with two high-capacity water pumps to drain the flooded water from mine. HPS Kandari, the Commandant of the 1st Battalion of the NDRF, said that the pumping will continue through the night. “We have already started. One pump is running, and the second one is being set up. After the water is cleared, we will start a manual search,” Kandari told reporters.
Rescue teams are working tirelessly to drain water from the mine, allowing safe access for manual searches.
Local authorities have brought in extra resources to speed up the operation. Meanwhile, the families of the trapped workers wait anxiously for updates, as the teams stay dedicated to safely rescuing everyone still inside.
