CM Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurates Rs.99 Crore Dinesh Goswami Flyover in Guwahati

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, officially opened the 99-crore Dinesh Goswami Flyover in Guwahati on March 4. The flyover located in the busy Bharalumukh area, has been built to address the growing traffic pressure in the city.
The new infrastructure project is significantly exposed to ease traffic congestion along one of Guwahati’s most crowded routes. This flyover launch, commuters travelling through Bharalumukh may experience more faster and smoother movement during peak hours.
The government has described the project as part of its broader effort to upgrade urban infrastructure and improve transportation facilities better in Guwahati.

Key Features of Dinesh Goswami Flyover in Guwahati

The Dinesh Goswami Flyover in Guwahati has various design elements aimed at improving connectivity between major areas of the city.

Some of the key highlights include:

  • Total length: 1.2 kilometres
  • Project cost: ₹99 crore
  • Connectivity: Links Machkhowa, Bharalumukh and Santipur Ssntipur Sluice Gate
  • Road design: Two-lane carriageway from the Santipur side
  • Downward lane: Single-lane road towards Bhalarumukh
  • Return corridor: One-and –a-half lane elevated road

With these features, the Dinesh Goswami Flyover in Guwahati expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in the Bharalumukh area and improve travel time for daily commuters.

Flyover Completed Ahead of Schedules

During the inauguration, Himanta Biswa sarma said that the Dinesh Goswami Flyover in Guwahati completed well before its scheduled deadline.

As stated by the Chief Minister, construction of the flyover took 15 months, even though the original target for the project was 24 months.
He further mentioned that the final design of the flyover was prepared after discussions with Indian Railways. This was done to ensure that the structure safely aligns with the nearby railway infrastructure in the area.
Delivering the project ahead of schedule is being seen as a significant achievement in Assam’s infrastructure development efforts.

More Flyover Projects Planned in Guwahati

The Chief Minister also announced that more infrastructure projects will soon be opened in the city.
The Chandmari Flyover will likely open to the public on March 10. Another project, the Cycle factory Flyover, will also become operational before the celebration of Bohag Bihu.

The upcoming projects are part of the government’s larger plan to improve transportation within the city. By adding more flyovers, officials aim to make traffics movement easier and reduce congestion in different parts of Guwahati.

For many commuters, the Dinesh Goswami Flyover in Guwahati is expected to bring daily relief by making travel through Bharalumukh faster and smoother.
