Artist Welfare Fund of Assam

Artist Welfare Fund Assam is scheme where the Government of Assam provides financial assistance to sick and disabled artists. Under this arrangement, the Government of Assam provides a total fund of Rs. 1 crore to the Assam State Film (Finance and Development) Corporation. Government also formed an advisory committee to choose stakeholders and provide financial support.

The Assam State Film (Finance and Development) Corporation has already started providing financial assistance to the artists under Artist Welfare Fund fund.

Major Objective of the Artist Welfare Fund Assam Fund:

• To help the Artists (or their dependents) who are in financial distress due to old age or otherwise handicapped from accident or disease;
• Medical aid to such Artists and their dependents.
• Education for such Artists and their dependents (to be limited up two children)
• Assistance to such Artist in case of accidents, medical emergency etc.
• ‘Dependent’ means and includes: Spouse of a deceased Artist, Minor sons and daughters, Unmarried and non-earning daughters and Parents wholly dependent on the Artist.

Eligibility criteria for Artist Welfare Fund Assam:

Subject to the approval of the Advisory Board, a person will be eligible to apply in the prescribed format for financial assistance under the Artist Welfare Fund Assam scheme if he/she fulfills the following:

1. He/She must be and artist in the field of art and culture of the State.
2. He/She must be above the age of 20 years (in case of applicant being the artist)
3. The applicant/artist should be and artist the distress.
4. He/ She must have a made a mark or made some achievement in the field of art and culture.
5. He/She must provider artistic credentials supporting his/her achievement.

Limit of Financial grant:

A limit has been fixed for various disease as given below;

1. Cancer : Rs.50,000.00
2. Kidney Transplant : Rs.50,000.00 or Total Kidney Failure
3. Heart pace maker/By pass : Rs. 20,000.00
4. Death : To be decided by the Board
5. Disability due to Accident : To be decided by the Board
6. Others

How to apply for the Artist Welfare Fund Assam

There is no online application available for this fund. Applicants must apply in the application form available in the office of the ASFFDC, Shilpgram Road, near Sankardev Kalakshetra, Panjabari,Guwahati-37 and there they submit the form.

Documents required to apply for this Fund

1. A recent, clear, and colored passport-sized photo.
2. Your Aadhaar card.
3. A document proving your identity.
4. A document showing your residence in Assam. You can use any of these: passport, driving license, electricity bill, landline telephone or broadband connection bill, water bill, gas connection card or bill, bank account statement, domicile certificate from the government, spouse’s passport, post office passbook with your address, property registration document, or voter ID card.
5. Proof of your age or date of birth. You can use any of these: Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter ID card, passport, driving license, birth certificate issued by the municipal authority or authorized office, marriage certificate, or 10th class certificate.
6. Information about any awards, distinctions, or honors you’ve received for your artistic achievements.
7. Proof of any medical condition (medical certificate).
8. Your income certificate.
9. Details of your bank account linked with Aadhaar.
