One of the accused who was arrested in the recent firing incident outside actor Salman Khan house has died by suicide while in police custody. The accused idenfied as Anuj Thapan age 32 years. He was arrested from Punjab on April 26 in connection with the case. According to sources, Thapan took his own life by hanging in a toilet attached to the police lock-up at 11 am.
Anuj Thapan, along with another accused, Sonu Subhash Chander, allegedly provided the weapons used in the firing incident on April 14. The circumstances leading to Anuj Thapan’s suicide are currently under investigation.
Former Maharashtra senior police officer PK Jain highlighted the seriousness of the matter, stating that any death in police custody is treated as a murder case. He emphasized that all policemen involved will be questioned by the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) to ascertain the facts surrounding Thapan’s death.
Jain further explained that police procedures typically involve thorough checks of lock-ups to prevent such incidents. However, despite precautions, cases of suicide within lock-ups have occurred in the past.
Other Two accused name connection with the Salman Khan House Firing Case
The other individuals allegedly involved in the shooting incident, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, are also in police custody. They both arrested on 15 April from arrested from Gujratโs Bhuj. Both accused captured on CCTV leaving the scene on a motorcycle on the night of the incident.
All these four suspects believed to have connection with the Lawrence Bishnoi. Lawrence Bishnoi a notorious gangster known for various criminal activities including kidnapping, murder, and smuggling. The Mumbai Crime Branch has identified Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi as prime suspects in the case, citing strong evidence against them.
The heightened security measures surrounding Salman Khan, including his elevated security level to Y-Plus since November 2022 due to threats from Bishnoi and another gangster, Goldy Brar, underscore the seriousness of the situation. Khan permitted to carry a personal firearm and travels in an armored vehicle for protection.
