Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma today, announced that this year 1 Crore residents will sing Assam State Anthem “O Mur Apunar Desh” in the same day.
He stated during Assam Budget session discussion at Assembly. Assam CM Sarma stated, “This year, from Barak Valley to BTAD, from Haflong to Karbi Anglong—covering the entire region—1 crore people will sing O Mur Apunar Desh together in same day. For the first time, this Assam state anthem will be presented in its original form, exactly as written by Lakshminath Bezbaroa, where there are no Assamese or Bengali words. This will resonate with every tribe and community of Assam.”
The aim for this initiative is to bring all the people of Assam together and celebrate Assam’s culture by uniting different communities through a shared song.
