In the 3rd Century, a Catholic priest live in Roman named St. Valentine. So, Valentine’s Day is named after Valentine.
At the time Emperor Claudius II who was a pagan, believed that unmarried soldiers fought better because they were not emotionally attached. As a result, he banned soldiers from getting married. Valentine was who secretly performed marriages for young soldiers in Christian ceremonies, defying the emperor’s decree. When Claudius found out, Valentine was arrested. While imprisoned Valentine took care of his fellow prisoners and the jailor’s blind daughter. According to legend, he healed her blindness. Before he was executed, Valentine wrote her a love note, signing it “From Your Valentine.” He was executed on February 14, 270.

This festival honored Lupa, the she-wolf who cared for Romulus and Remus, the legendary founders of Rome.
