Who is the viral IIT Baba in Mahakumbh 2025 Did you know?
The name Viral IIT Baba is Abhay Singhand from Haryana. He did B tech in aerospace engineering from IIT Mumbai (2008-2012 batch) followed by masters in design. There are three images in this post. In one picture he is with other classmates on their graduation day from IIT Bombay. After that, he taught physics for one year probably at the coaching institute of IIT. He also wrote a book called “A beautiful place to get lost.
Why did he called IIT Baba in Mahakumbh?
In one picture of the post he is of his younger age, what a handsome boy. The second picture is of him but as he is seen as a monk at the Kumbh Mela. He did his graduation at IIT, and this is the reason why he is now called as IIT Baba by many people.

He passed out from IIT and pursued his passion. He himself said that he became a travel photographer by following his passion like Three Idiots. IIT Baba Mahakumbh walked 2000 km from Manali to visit Char Dham. In the interview he also said “I learned so much in this world but I did not learn how to cook basic things!” Little things need to be learned and known”! Parents who still proudly say that my baby does not know how to cook, understand that knowing how to cook is a basic need, not knowing is a failure.
When asked about his girlfriend, he candidly admitted that he had many girlfriends, many mistakes and good deeds. It also said that “1 in 10 girls in IITs but 7 out of 10 in design schools.” Then he said, “Life is not wrong, you have to understand what life is first.” And that can be understood only through experience. Another one I really liked was, “Identify different things or things but don’t make comparative judgments between them. Differentiate but don’t discriminate.” That is, I know there are different religions, politics. I believe in one religion you believe in another religion or I am black you are fair or I believe in one politics you in another politics. But comparing between them, we should not judge who is younger or older. May all exist together in this society. Only then will there be joy in life. He said a matter of fact “India has this problem that those who are older think they know more. Parents think they know more than their sons because they are parents. But what happened when he became a father, even though the father has passed class 10, he always thinks that his knowledge is more than his child. It’s not right. He should say that I don’t know everything, only this much.”
It might seem like he wasted an IIT seat or that his excessive cannabis use has left him mentally unstable, leading him to casually give up everything while laughing it off. But I feel he is incredibly intelligent, with a sharp memory and a strong desire to learn. Through his own philosophy of life, he has renounced all material possessions and worldly relationships, choosing this path. Everyone has the right to live their life on their own terms. At least he isn’t cheating anyone or causing harm to anyone. He’s enjoying life in his own way. Honestly, I felt a bit envious because I can’t laugh so freely or express myself so openly like he does!
