On 12 July a road accident took place in Silchar, where an over speeding vehicle injured 15 people.
According to information, an over speeding Bolero with drunk driver hit at around 15 people who injured badly. This accident took place at around 9:45 pm, began from the Sadarghat area in front of the Silchar Municipal Building.
After hitting several people, a group of bikers chased down the vehicle which eventually got stuck near Tennis Club Silchar. Later, Cachar Police, Traffic Branch and CRPF quickly arrived at the scene and took the vehicle and person into custody.
The Bolero SUV Registration number MZ 01P 8920 hailing from Mizoram has started overspeed driving spree from Sadarghat. The Driver of the vehicle identified as RK Hminghthanga who had come to Silchar to attend a wedding ceremony. He went out from ventured for smuggling and consuming alcohol. Which led the road accident in Silchar.
According to witnesses report that the vehicle first hit three individual near the Municipality building. To escape after the incident, the Bolero continued its reckless rampage, it hit two more people in Capital Point and collided with multiple bikes and e-rickshaw along Trunk Road, Silchar.
The vehicle crashed down PWD Road and got stuck in a pothole near Tennis Club Point. As it caused chaos, angry motorcyclists started chasing it. The chase ended when the vehicle couldn’t move anymore. After that, a crowd got furious and damaged the SUV by breaking windows and causing a lot of damage. Inside the vehicle, they found alcohol bottles in several boxes, which made them even angrier.
An Eyewitness said there was another person in vehicle beside the driver but he managed to escape from the scene. According to police the Bolero driver had come to Silchar to attend wedding ceremony of his relatives at Borail View Regency in Park Road, Silchar along with other from Mizoram. During the wedding, the driver RK Hminghthanga went out from the venue to go out and drink.
According some source revealed that he was drunk during driving. Two injured from the accident have sent to the hospital. The driver is now under interrogation by the police.
