Sikshasree Scholarship Scheme In West Bengal:-
Sikshasree Scholarship Scheme is for the SC & ST students of class V to class VIII. The Backward Classes Welfare Department of West Bengal has initiated this Sikshasree Scholarship for the upliftment of SC & ST students of class V to VIII of West Bengal. This scholarship is a flagship project of the Chief Minister.
The project Sikshasree is for those students of the state who belong to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. To reduce the number of drop-outs the state government has initiated the grant to students of class V to class VIII. Students who do not stay in government hostels and belong to the SC & ST are eligible for the grant. Each of the SC students of class V to class VII will get a grant of RS 750 per annum and those of class VIII will get a grant of RS 800 per annum, while students belonging to ST and studying from class V to VIII will get a grant of RS 800 per annum.
Scholarship Amount:
- RS 500 will be given to class V per year
- RS 650 will be given to class VI per year
- RS 700 will be given to class VII per year
- RS 800 will give to class VIII per year
Eligibility Criteria for the Scheme:

- The Student must be belong to the SC & ST.
- The student must be a resident of West Bengal.
- The student must be a regular full time student reading in a government school or government aided school and government recognised schools in the state of West Bengal.
- The student must not get any other scholarship or stipen in any form for the same period.
- The Annual family income of the applicant should not be exceed 2.5 lakh.
- The student must have a bank account in a nationalised bank with core banking facility.

- Caste Certificate of the student
- Residential Proof
- Pass port size photo
- Bank Account
- Mobile Number.
Where to Apply:
Application can made to local educational institutions for the Sikshasree Scheme.
This means that SC & Indigenous students studying in each secondary school can apply to their own schools. In order to apply, they have to submit the required documents and application form to the headmaster of the school. Then the teacher of that school will check and select the application form. From their it will go to the District Scheme Officer and from there the scholarship money will reach the applicant’s account.
