Sayalu Surve, who gained national attention after winning the Miss India Earth 2019 title, returned to Hinduism after separating from husband. The development took place in Pimpri-Chinchwad near Pune and quickly drew attention across Maharashtra.
According to reports, Surve married businessman Aatif Tase, from Mira-Bhayandar in 2019 despite her family’s objections. Afterward, she embraced Islam and reportedly adopted the name Ateja Tase.
However, the relationship soon faced serious problems. Later she claimed, she has experienced mental and physical harassment after the wedding. She also alleged that she faced pressure to change her religion.
Allegations of harassment
Sayali Surve stated that the marriage was the biggest mistake of her life. She said she endured years of emotional stress and abuse.
As per her statements, she approached the police multiple times with complaints. She believed the authorities would help resolve the situation. However, later she said she did not receive the support expected.
Regardless of the difficulties, Surve stayed in the marriage for many years. She said she made that choice mainly for the sake of her children. Eventually, she decided to leave the relationship and rebuild her life.
Return to Hinduism Through Ritual Ceremony
Following her separation from her husband, Sayali Surve was reconverted to Hinduism through a purification ceremony arranged in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The ceremony included traditional Vedic rituals. Priests performed hawan and chanted sacred mantras as part of the purification process. Several Hindu organizations reportedly supported the event.
Subsequently, Surve adopted a new name – Aadya Surve, a development that quickly sparked debate on social media and within political circles in Maharashtra.
Message to Women Facing Abuse
While media interactions, Surve shared an emotional message for women who faces similar situation. She encouraged them to speak out against abuse rather than suffer in silence.
She also added, life shouldn’t be spent suffering in toxic relationships. According to her, every woman deserves dignity, respect and safety.
Surve stated that she stayed she stayed in the marriage for many years because she wanted her children to grow up with both parents. She loosed her patience and decided tostep away and protect herself and her children.
